Palaces of Telanganaare the royal abodes of Nizam rulers, who were the dependent rulers under Mughal Empire in India and later the British East India Company in the early phase of colonial rule. After the introduction of direct governmental rule, the Nizams came under British Government in India.
Rashtrapati Nilayam
Rashtrapati Nilayam which is literally known as the “President`s Houseâ€, originally known as Residency House is the official retreat of the President of India located in Secunderabad, the royal city in Telangana, where the President of India stays for at least once a year and conducts official business in South Indian region. It is also used as a guest house for visiting dignitaries. It was thrown open for public viewing from 1 January 2010 to 10 January 2010, with entry being free. The Residency House was constructed in 1860 by Nizam Nazir-ud-Dowla. It became the country house of the British Resident at Secunderabad. After the annexation of Hyderabad in the year 1948, this palace became the President`s retreat and used as Southern Sojourn House for the President of India.
Bella Vista of Hyderabad
Bella Vista of Hyderabad is a royal palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad during the existence of Hyderabad State, the Princely State of India. This palace is now located in Hyderabad, the capital city of both Telangana and Hyderabad. It is the Indo-European building standing on a 10-acre verdant campus. The French architect christened it as Bella Vista, because of its architectural influence. Bella Vista offers the beautiful sight, since it overlooks the Hussain Sagar Lake, a man made lake in Telangana. It is located at Saifabad suburb. It was modelled on the Henley-on-Thames of England.
Paigah Palace
Paigah Palace in Hyderabad was built by Sir Vicar-ul-Umra, a Paigah nobleman. This was built after he gave the famous Falaknuma Palace to the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad state, Mahbub Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VI. The Palace House of Hyderabad houses the artefacts of Nizams and the British East India Company, the Consulate General of the US in Hyderabad.
Purani Haveli
Purani Haveli is a citadel located in Hyderabad of Telangana. It was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad. It was also known as Haveli Khadeem, which means old mansion. Purani Haveli was constructed for Sikander Jah, Asaf Jah III (1803–1829) by his father Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah II. The second Nizam of Hyderabd, Mir Nizam Ali Khan had taken over this from Rukunudhaulah of the Momin dynasty, in the year 1717. The main building of the Purani Haveli is a symbol of 18th century European architecture and the Islamic architecture as well. Sikander Jha lived here for some time and later shifted to Khilwat Mahal. Due to this, these buildings are called Purani Haveli. In this building complex of Purani Haveli, Ayina Khaana (Mirror House) and Chini Khaana (Chinese Glass House) were constructed.
Chowmahalla Palace
Chowmahalla Palace in Hyderabad is a palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad. Chowmahalla Palace was the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty and was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad while they ruled their state. The palace remains the property of Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah, the successor of the Nizams of Hyderabad. In Persian, Chahar means four and in Arabic Mahalat (plural of Mahal) means palaces, hence the name Chowmahallat is derived.
Asman Garh Palace
Asman Garh Palace is a royal turret located in Hyderabad, the capital city of both Telangana and Hyderabad. Asman Garh Palace hosted a museum displaying archaeological relics that are found in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. The palace presently is converted into a school St Joseph`s Public School, Asman Garh Palace branch, which was located near the T.V. Tower at Malakpet. Asmangarh Palace was constructed in the year 1885 by the Paigah Noble Sir Asman Jah. Asmangarh Palace is located on a small hill with an authoritative view of the surrounding forests in Hyderabad, which served as a hunting preserve forest for the Nizams of Hyderabad and his courtiers.
