Monuments of GujaratGujarat is a state with its rich heritage of arts, culture, tradition and architecture that depicts the glorious past of its history. It has several other monuments which stand as grandeur of the city. Notable ones among them are Aina Mahal in Bhuj, Lallubhai Haveli in Bharuch, Vijay Vilas Palace at Mandvi, Mahabat Maqbara at Junagarh, Shaking Minarets at Ahmedabad, Laxmi Vilas Palace at Vadodara, etc. The monuments of Gujarat bear the resemblance of the richness and royal grandeur of the bygone era.

Tomb of Ahmed Shah
It is one of the most important monuments of Gujarat. The tomb of the ruler Ahmed Shah is present near the Ahmedabad city near the Jama Masjid. He was the founder of the Ahmedabad city. The beautifully crafted tomb with its Islamic inscription, the latticed windows and the domes and minarets attracts several tourists to this place.

Uperkot Fort
The Uperkot Fort is situated in Junagardh city of Gujarat built by Chandragupta Maurya in 319 B.C. This fort was built and rebuilt repeatedly and served as the capital to 20 rulers. Later it became military quarters in the British period till 1947.

Old Fort
The Old Fort was constructed in the 14th century by Muhammad Tughlaq in the city of Surat. It still stands as one of the colossal monuments of Gujarat. It was constructed for the purpose of defense from the Bhil attackers which saved their land from these rebellions. This fort is a wonderful architecture with well-built walls and iron bars which is a major tourist destination.

Prag Mahal
The Prag Mahal was built by Rao Pragmalji II in Bhuj in 1879 and is still reckoned as one of the magnificent monuments of Gujarat. This palace consists of Corinthian pillars and Jali work which is made of Italian marble and sandstone. The entire structure is constructed and ornamented delicately under a famous European architecture named Colonel Wilkins.

Lakhota Palace
This palace is situated in Jamnagar with an exotic beauty that represents the glorious saga of the Hindu ruler. Lakhota Palace was constructed by Jam dynasty of Gujarat in the year 1540. This site is considered as one of the major tourist attractions in Gujarat.

Hriday Kunj
Hriday Kunj is one of the major tourist destinations of Gujarat. It is important for its historical value as Mahatma Gandhi started his nonviolence Satyagraha movement from this ashram. It was the same place from where he started the salt satyagraha against the British rule.

Monuments of Gujarat Sun Temple
The Sun Temple in Modhera is among the most sought-after historical places in Gujarat, or rather India. This Hindu temple is dedicated to the Sun God, and is located in the embankment of River Pushpavati. In 1026 AD is when Sun Temple was built, back in this time Bhima I of Chalukya Dynasty had the throne.

Rani Ki Vav
Rani Ki Vav was built by Udayamati, in the memory of her husband King Bhimdev 1, in 1063 AD. This massive stepwell was used to take out water from River Saraswati but has dried today. This archeological site is located in Patan and is a UNESCO World Heritage.

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque
Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is named after a slave Sultan Ahmed Shah, Sidi Saiyyed who built it. The structure dates back to 1573.

Aaina Mahal Palace
Aaina Mahal Palace or the palace of dreams was constructed in the 18th century during the rule of Lakhpatji. The ruler asked Ram Singh Malam, the prominent architect then, to build the "palace of dreams" for him. The palace is located on the northeast side of Hamirsar Lake in Kutch.
