The reality show started in the year 2006 on Sony TV with the title Fear Factor India. However after the first season the show was discontinued and the channel gave up its rights to Colors TV. The show was resumed in July 2008 as Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. The highlights of this show are the actual stunts performed by amateurs, great locations and celebrity participants. The channel as well as the programme has successfully achieved its viewer ship.

Conceptualization of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi
Khatron Ke Khiladi is actually the Indian version of the world famous reality show Fear Factor. The show is based in military style boot camp in South Africa with settings based on water, buildings etc. There are many different challenges such as jumping off a building into a net hung in mid-air, cycling across a ramp high in the air, driving a cycle into glass and fire, climbing a helicopter from a speed boat, eating nauseating things and so on.

Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi was anchored by Akshay Kumar in the first two seasons (2008 and 2009). Akshay Kumar, among the most dependable stars of the film industry displayed his daredevilry and penchant for adventure and thrill as the host of the show. In the third season (2010) he was replaced by Priyanka Chopra owing to scheduling conflict. The fourth season (2011) was once again hosted by Akshay Kumar however its fifth season (2014) witnessed Rohit Shetty as the anchor.

Several male celebrities also featured in the show including Rajneesh Duggal, Ranvir Shorey, Ajaz Khan, Dino Morea, Abhishek Kapoor, Rahul Bose and many others. Witnessing the contestants perform stunts that would seem near impossible for ordinary mortals take the game to the highest level of physical and mental challenge. All these actions make the show more gritty and edgy.
