Urvashi Dholakia is a very popular name on the small screen. As the shrewd and conniving Komolika in the hugely popular Balaji show `Kasauti Zindagi Kay` she has carved out a special corner in the hearts of the small screen audiences. The telly viewers love to hate her but cannot dare to ignore for the evil charms that she casts by her powerhouse performances. She also managed to offer serious competition to all the negative characters that rocked the small screen. She has a string of serials to her credit including the popular ones like `Dekh Bhai Dekh`, ` Mehendi Tere Naam Ki`, ` Zamana Badal Gaya`, ` Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saaheli` and `Kasauti Zindagi Kay`. It was with the last soap that she catapulted to fame. She not only has bankable looks but also has an attitude to complement her striking looks. Her journey in the telly began as early as when she was just 6 years old but officially her journey headed off at the age of 14. It was her fascination for the world of glamour that made her convince her mother to join the industry as a child model.
Urvashi Dholakia began her acting career when she was 11 years old and performed in Nadira Babbar`s theater group `Ekjute`. The stint lasted for 3 months but by then she was already hooked onto the medium of television. Then she made her appearance in the very popular comedy show `Dekh Bhai Dekh` by ABCL when she was just fourteen years old. Since then she never had to look back. She never regretted for not getting any formal training in the art of acting. She claims that while acting she always prefers to go by the character portrayal first and then the script. For playing any character she need to get into the psyche of the character and then the lines just come naturally to her. She is in fact more of an intuitive actor. She worked with Balaji for the first time in `Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saaheli` and that was the time when Ekta Kapoor was scouting for new talents in her soap `Kasauti` and offered her the role of Komolika. She agreed to essay the character because it seemed quite interesting to her and the rest is history.
The favorite character of Urvashi Dholakia however remains to be Pooja in that of `Mehendi Tere Naam Ki`. According to her it showcased almost all the possible shades of a character right from a bubbly teenager to an ambitious go-getter to a rebel and finally metamorphosed into a mature woman. But she also had a great relation with the Balaji production house. Whenever she signs for Balaji she is assured of a fair deal. In turn they also have extreme faith in her and share the same feeling. They have always meted her roles, which have given her a lot of scope to perform. She claims that all her roles have came smooth sailing so far. The only thing she is afraid in her career is that of being a typecast. Besides `Kasauti` she has also rocked the small screen with her catty performance in the character portrayal of Kajol in `Kahani Teri Meri`, which used to be aired on Sony Television. About establishing a firm footage in the film industry she thinks that Bollywood has still a mindblock and is not willing to accept actors from tellydom yet. However her huge fan following wishes that this actress will go a long way in the future with her powerhouse performances and her fans wishes her good luck for her future endeavours.
