Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala was established in the year 1971. It is one of the elite institutes of India, offering undergraduate and post graduate courses in various streams.

Cochin University of Science and Technology, KeralaCochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala (CUSAT) is a government owned autonomous institution. It was established in the year 1971 through the Act of Legislature of Kerala Government. A concerted campaign was held in the state for postgraduate education in Kerala which led to the foundation of Cochin University. The objective of the University is to enhance higher education in the state and promoting advanced research in the field of applied sciences, technology, engineering, industry, commerce and social sciences. The university was formerly known as University of Cochin.

Location of Cochin University of Science and Technology
The main campus of Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala is at Trikkakara which spans 180 acres of lush green land. The main building stands amidst the serene and picturesque nature, embellished with traditional architecture of Kerala. Except marine sciences, there are various departments in this campus. Apart from this, the campus also houses administrative house, guest house, auxiliary institution, visiting faculty complex, staff quarters, central library, hostels, computer centers and many other amenities. Second campus is the downtown campus or lakeside campus which is situated in the Shore of Vembanad Lake. The campus has a splendid view of Arabian Sea and Cochin harbour. Marine Science department is located in this campus along with the men`s hostel. The school of Marine Sciences in this campus is among the very few centres in India which have an excellent and complete infrastructure. The third is the Pulinkunnu Campus, located in Kuttanad, Alleppey. It houses the Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad (CUCEK). Kuttanad is popularly known as the rice bowl of Kerala and is well known for its rice cultivation below sea level. It enlists itself among the top tourist destinations, owing to its exotic landscape and scenic backwaters. The paddy fields running along the backwaters are a visual treat.

Departments of Cochin University of Science and Technology
Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala has 29 departments and offers 80 programs which changes its course structures with the changing world. The university includes department of Engineering, Environmental Studies, Hindi, Foreign Languages, Legal Studies, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemical Oceanography, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physical Oceanography, Marine Geology and Geophysics, Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Social Sciences, Economics, Commerce Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, Polymer Science and Rubber Technology, Ship Technology. The university also runs School of Management Studies and, International School of Photonics.

Admission Procedure in Cochin University of Science and Technology
All India Entrance Examinations are conducted by the University for Admissions in different undergraduate and postgraduate courses, through Common Admission Test (CAT). Apart from this, some post graduate courses have Departmental Admission Test (DAT) for admissions.

Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala aims at promoting and enriching higher education by providing best quality of teaching through advanced techniques. Its motto is `Tejasvinavadhithamastu`, that implies `may learning illumine us both, the teacher and the taught`.
