Types of Indian Civil Awards
Several Indian Civil Awards are given to common people for their extraordinary deeds. Bharat Ratna is the most prestigious Indian Civil Award. Handed over by the President of India, Bharat Ratna is awarded to people who have served the nation in the best possible ways. Padma Awards are of three kinds namely, Padma Vibhushan Awards, Padma Bhushan Awards and Padma Shri Awards. These awards were founded in the year 1954 and are announced on Republic Day, every year. National Bravery Awards organized by Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. recognize the unprecedented courage shown at the hours of need by ordinary citizens. Indian Defence Awards are divided into Gallantry Awards and Non-Gallantry Awards.Indian Civil Awards These awards are government approved and are handed over to the defence personnel for their services, while safeguarding the nation. There are several Peace Awards given in India like the Gandhi Peace Prize and the Indira Gandhi Peace Award. These are awarded to individuals or institutions for their contribution in changing the society by following the postulates of non-violence.
