Bharat Award , Indian National Bravery AwardThe Bharat Award is one of the five civilian awards presented in India, under the National Bravery Awards category. The first Prime Minister of India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru came up with the idea of presenting National Bravery Awards to the brave children of India, in the year 1957. The Bharat Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious among all the five National Bravery Awards and it was first introduced in the year 1987. The award is given to the Indian children under the age of 16 years, for showing meritorious acts of bravery against all odds. The award is also given to the children, who have shown outstanding deeds of bravery and selfless sacrifice. Since 1987, several brave children have won the Bharat Award and the Bharat Awardees are always appreciated as the most courageous citizens of India.
