Mita Vasisht, Indian ActressMita Vasisht is an Indian film and television actress, who has also worked in theatre. She has graduated from National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi in the year 1987. Not only is she a prolific writer but also a remarkable theater artiste and a lot more. This experienced actresses has received rave reviews for her bold and daring portrayal in the Hindi film Oops. Vasisht became most popular for her role of Trishna in the serial Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii. Her negative character in this serial has made her won many accolades.

Early Life of Mita Vasisht
Mita Vasisht was born on 2nd November, 1967, to the parents Rajeshwar Dutt Vasisht and Meenakshi Mehta Vasisht in Pune, Maharashtra. Her father is a retired Indian Army Colonel and her mother is a musician and a teacher. She completed her post-graduation Punjab University in Chandigarh and later became a graduate from the National School of Drama (NSD).

Mita Vasisht has successfully worked in parallel cinema as well as in commercial movies. She is a renowned script-writer and has done some memorable work in theatre. Lal Ded is one of her most famous plays where Vasisht was the solo performer. It was performed in Hindi, Kashmiri and English. She was also the producer and writer of 3 short films and a television serial. Mita Vasisht was also the producer of the film, The name of a River, which won several awards. During the course of her career, Vasisht has produced and directed various documentaries and television shows.

Mita Vasisht has appeared in several Indian television serials, namely Space City Sigma, Discovery of India, Mr. Yogi, Pachpan Khambe Lal Deewarein, Swabhimaan, Kirdaar, Ghum, Saalgiraah, Vijay Jyoti, Bombay Lawyers and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. Her film career includes popular and critically acclaimed films like Jazeere, Khayal Gatha, Drishti, The Idiot, Tarpan, Drohkaal, English August, Dil Se, Ghulam, Taal, Maya, Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Pitaah,Oops and Aladin.

In the 2011 film, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge Mita Vasisht was seen in the role of a professor. She has also done regional films like Snehidi in Tamil and Patalghar in Bengali.

Other activities of Mita Vasisht
Mita Vasisht established Mandala in the year 2001, with the objective of initiating a new movement in performing arts and to assist artistic collaborations. Mandala is mainly a space for arts collaborations research and education. She is also acts as visiting faculty to various film and theatre institutes in the country like FTII (Pune), NIFT (Delhi), NID (Ahmedabad) and NSD (Delhi). Moreover, Vasisht also organizes theatre workshops in UK and Damascus. She teaches fashion designing, film-making, acting and theatre techniques.

Apart from these, Mita Vasisht is also involved in social activities. She continuously works to improve the state of sex-workers and children in remand homes.

Awards of Mita Vasisht
Mita Vasisht has received various awards for her performances including Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress (1996), BFJA Awards Bengal Film Journalist Award (1990). She was also nominated for National Film Awards Best Actress for the film Oops in 2004.
