Dil se, Indian movieThe Indian movie `Dil Se` is released in the year 1998. This film was released in Tamil language as `Uyire` and `Prema tho` in Telegu as well. The film was shot in Delhi, Kashmir, Assam, and other parts of India and also Bhutan. Santosh Sivan won National Film Award as best cinematographer for this movie. The film`s background score and soundtrack were composed by A. R. Rahman. He won Filmfare Award for the music. The film became the first Indian film to reach the Top 10 in the UK Box Office Charts, when released in 1998. Indian film `Dil Se` was screened at the ERA New Horizons Film Festival and the Helsinki International Film Festival as well.

Synopsis of Dil Se
Amarkant aka `Amar` Varma played by Shahrukh Khan, is an All-India Radio journalist. He lives in Delhi. He goes to the troubled region of North-east to report on different happenings related to 50th Anniversary of Indian independence. He meets Meghna played by Manisha Koirala at a railway station. It was love at first site at least they attract each other. They chat for a while but when he goes to take a cup of tea Meghna`s train departs. She boards in the train and leaves Amar behind. Some weeks later he again sees her in the street and calls her loudly. But she starts pretending that she could not recognize him.

By that time Amar seriously falls in love with her because of her mysteriousness and ravishing beauty. He tries to convince her about his love. Meghan is in her trip to Ladakh. Amar follows her there. He tells her that he is going to report on the local festivals celebrated there. But Meghna escapes from there too. One incident makes Amar shattered and that was fighting with two strong people who are known as Meghna`s brother. They also warn him not to get in touch with Meghna. Amar takes a bus and incidentally finf Meghna sitting there. He tells the story humorously to her. Meghna sympathises with his plight and opens up a little before the bus breaks down. The passengers need to walk a two-day journey with a order to reach their destination.

Dil se, Indian movie He finds her again, she has him beaten up, they are thrown together again, and they fight the attraction. Amar leaves the troubled region to return to the safety of the capital Delhi and a stable relationship with Preeti played by Preity Zinta. First he is not ready for the marriage but soon he thinks that Preity can be a good choice. Consequently Meghna comes to live in Amar`s house and Amar gets distracted. Meghna requests Amar for a job in AIR. He manages one for Meghna. Amar tries to make her remember their love and compassion but Meghna is determined. As a matter of fact Meghna comes to Delhi for the purpose of accomplishing a project. The project is the disaster of killing the prime minister, but Amar intercepts her at the last moment and they are both killed. Actually Meghna was a part of the suicide squad and ultimately both of them sacrifice their life out of love. One of the songs in the film `Satrangi Re` shows the seven emotions of love. These are very descriptive. The stages can be mentioned as Ibaadat, Ishq, Aquidat, Junoon, Hub, Uns, and Maut i.e. worship, love, reverence, obsession, attraction, infatuation, and death.

The star cast of the film `Dil Se` includes Shahrukh Khan, Manisha Koirala, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Preity Zinta. The film is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Mani Ratnam, Ram Gopal Verma and also Shekhar Kapur. The screenplay is written by Mani Ratnam, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Sujatha. The music is given by A. R. Rahman.

Awards for Dil Se
The film has won many awards since its release. It includes Netpac award as special mention for Mani Ratnam in 1999 Berlin International Film Festival. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan and Audiographer H. Sridhar won National film awards in the year 1999. The Bollywood movie `Dil Se` also got many filmfare awards including Preity Zinta as best debut, Gulzar as best lyricist, Sukhwinder Singh as best male playback, A. R. Rahman as best music director, Farah Khan as best choreography, and Santosh Sivan as best cinematographer.
