Maddur is a small town situated in the Mandya district of the southern state of India, Karnataka. It belongs to Mysore Division. Mandya, the district headquarters town is situated at a distance of 20 km. Maddur Pin code is 571428. Steeped in history; this town was formerly known as Arjunapura. Situated on the banks of the River Shimsa, the town is dotted with several temples built by the Hoysalas and the Chola dynasty. The village goddess of the town is Madduramma. Kannada is the local language of Maddur. Kokkarebellur is a well known bird sanctuary.
