She was crowned Miss India in 1985 by Juhi Chawla and in the same year she also went on to participate in Miss World contest. Sonu Walia is considered as one of the most gorgeous, intriguing and under-rated actresses to ever grace the tinsel world, along with actress Sangita Bijlani.

Early Life of Sonu Walia
Sonu Walia was born on 19th February 1964. She is the daughter of an Indian Army officer. Sonu Walia is a psychology graduate and a student of journalism.

Career of Sonu Walia
Sonu Walia made her acting debut with the film "Shart" in 1986. After which she starred in Hindi films with a lead, even though negative role. In 1988, the movie "Khoon Bhari Maang" garnered her lot of fame. She also won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Khoon Bhari Maang" with Rekha and Kabir Bedi.

Sonu Walia also acted in the popular TV serial called "Betaal Pachisi" along with Tom Alter and Shahbaz Khan. From 1988, she played the role of Maharani Chitrangada, mother of Babruvahana, in "Mahabharat" TV show.

Personal Life of Sonu Walia
Sonu Walia was married to Surya Prakash, an NRI based in the US who was a hotelier and Indian film producer in 1995 in a quiet ceremony in Pune. She has a daughter and a son.
