Rajasthan is a well-known place for wooden craftsmanship and the furniture produced here displays the fine embroidery work done on the leather. Tilonia Furniture of Kishangarh is famous for this kind of artwork. In the royal courts massive wooden furniture were used and hence the tradition of furniture is very old and rich in Rajasthan.

The traditional furniture of Rajasthan is inlaid with brass sheet work or is lightly carved. Barmer is known for its intricately carved furniture. Tables, chests, jharokhas and jhoolas are widely available with intricate wooden work. Once upon a time the tradition of crafting handmade paper by Khanzad Kagzis was patronized by the rulers of Amber. It was at the threshold of extinction in the 19th century but later it was revived and today it is famous worldwide. The end products made through this process are eco friendly and are exported international market.

Another form of wooden art that is popular in Rajasthan is the art of Taarkashi. They are used together with the wooden furniture to create beautiful chairs, tabletops and sideboards. Figures carved out of sandalwood include a desert caravan with tiny camels. These are quite popular with the tourists as well. Other popular paraphernalia comprise of Lord Krishna playing the flute in a divine mood and the maidens in aesthetic dance poses.
