Vijay Singh Chauhan was one of the first Indian long jumpers, who won many medals in the competitions he participated in.

Vijay Singh Chauhan is a former Indian athlete who, in the 1974 Asian Games, won gold medal in decathlon. He was also a proud participant in 1972 Olympics Games. He was born in the year 1949 in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He was honoured with Arjuna award.

Long jump in India has always remained a less popular sport in India. And specially when Vijay Singh Chauhan started his career as a long jumper, sports there were popularly played, watched and promoted in India were Cricket, Football and Hockey. Still right from a very young age he struggled against all odds and climbed new heights in the sports of long jump.

He represented at various events at both national and international levels. He won many awards including the prestigious Arjuna Award.
