The Indian Express is a newspaper published in India, and was started in 1932 by Chennai based Veradharajulu Naidu. In 1991, with the death of the then owner Ramnath Goenka, there was a split in the family following, which the business was also divided. The northern edition of the paper based in Mumbai retained the old name Indian Express but with the prefix `The`. The southern edition took the name The New Indian Express. The Indian Express is published in all major Indian cities.
The Indian Express is owned by the Indian Express Group, which is the owner of newspapers like The Financial Express, Screen Weekly, Loksatta and Jansatta.
