Parduman Singh Brar was an Indian athlete, specialized in shot put and discus throw events. Parduman Singh Brar was born on 15th October 1927. He was one of the few Indians to have won multiple medals at the Asian Games, which is also known as Asiad Games, which came from the brainchild of an Indian, Professor Guru Dutt Sondhi, representative of India at the International Olympic committee during 1948.

Parduman Singh Brar was India`s national champion in the shot put and discus throw events in the 1950s.

Parduman Singh Brar won his first national shot put event in Madras (now called Chennai) in the year 1958. He won the national discus throw events in 1954, 1958 and 1959.

In the 1954 Asian Games in Manila, Parduman Singh Brar won gold medals in the shot put and discus throw events. From that time, thus he became the first athlete in Asia to attain the feat.

Parduman Singh Brar sustained his performance winning a gold in the shot put event and bronze in the discus throw event in the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo.

In the last games appearance of Parduman Singh Brar in 1962 in Jakarta, he won a silver medal in discus throw. There he completed his medal tally of five medals in three Asian games events. Parduman Singh Brar was given the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in the year 1999 recognizing his contribution to Indian sports.

Parduman Singh Brar was paralysed after an accident in the early 1980s. He died on 22 March 2007 in his native village in Punjab after prolonged illness.
