Manavjeet Singh Sidhu, also known as Manavjeet Singh Sandhu, is a well known sport shooter from India who has gained expertise in trap shooting. He was bestowed with the Arjuna Award in the year 1998 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2006. Manavjeet Singh was honoured for his brilliant and consistent performance in sport shooting through the last few years. The individual gold and team silver at the 2006 World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia, was one of his top achievements. Manavjeet Singh Sidhu completed his education from the Lawrence School in Sanawar. He started his sport shooting career at a young age and was immensely inspired by Gurbir Singh Sandhu, his father. Gurbir Singh was also an ace shooter of international repute and a winner of the prestigious Arjuna Award.
Manavjeet Singh Sidhu won the gold medal at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in the year 2006. He also won gold medal at 1998 Commonwealth Games, bronze medal in the trap event at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, four gold medals at the Asian Clay Shooting Championships four silver medals at 1998 Asian Games, 2002 Asian Games, 2006 Asian Games. Manavjeet Singh participated in the Olympic Games in the years 2004 and 2008. At the 2008 Olympics, Sidhu was tied at the 10th position.
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games Shooting Championship, he won the gold medal and received another gold medal at the trap shooting World Cup held in Mexico. He was ranked at the 3rd position in the world, as of 2nd April 2010 and his highest ranking was in the year 2006 when he attained the 1st rank in the world. Rajiv Gandhi Khelratna award for 2006, which is the highest sports honour in the country, was awarded to Manavjeet Singh Sandhu, the trap shooter. Sandhu left behind Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid and star golfer Jeev Milkha Singh for the award, becoming the fourth shooter to bag the award after Abhinav Bindra, Anjali Bhagwat and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
