Linga MudraLinga Mudra is a hand posture which is effective and advisable for some health problems. The word `Linga` is the Sanskrit term for the male genital organ. And `mudra` is a form of expression by the use of fingers of both the hands of a human being. Linga Mudra increases bodily heat since it reinforces the fire element. This mudra also helps to relieve other problems related to human anatomy. Linga Mudra is considered to be the source of increasing the power of resistance against coughs, chest infections and cold.

Practice of Linga Mudra
Linga Mudra is practiced by holding both palms together and clasping the fingers of both hands. While doing this posture of hand, one thumb should remain upright and encircled with the thumb and the index finger. This mudra can be practiced as required or three times a day for 15 minutes.

Benefits of Linga Mudra

•Practicing Linga Mudra is suggested to the people who very often suffer from bad colds, incurable chest infections and respiratory troubles.
•This mudra increases body temperature.
•This loosens mucus that has collected in the lungs.
•Linga Mudra helps to reduce weight.
•Practicing Linga Mudra generates heat and as a result constant practicing of this mudra at a time may lead to exhaustion and lethargy.
•Linga Mudra can be practiced to overcome ailments caused by an overproduction/ accumulation of phlegm (mucous) in the body; such ailments include sinusitis, productive (wet) cough, sticky stools, etc.
•It also helps to overcome asthma and other respiratory ailments that occur at the change of weather.
•Sexual debility in males can be overcome by the practice of this mudra.

Precaution of Linga Mudra
Regular practicing of Linga Mudra is said to be effective for those who are overweight. The purpose of reducing weight will be solved by practicing this mudra three times a day for 15 minutes. But the important part is that controlling weight not only needs perfect exercising of mudras but a balanced and healthy diet should also be followed.

Another very important thing about Linga Mudra is that it should be practiced only when it is required and should be discontinued once the ailment has been overcome. Overuse of this mudra may worsen the Pitta humor within the body, causing sluggishness and lethargy. Also, Linga Mudra should never be practiced when suffering from ailments of Pitta-excess, especially fever.
