Kannada Prabha, Kannada Language NewspaperFounded by the famous Indian newspaper publisher, Ramnath Goenka in the year 1967, the Kannada Prabha is a morning daily jointly. The newspaper is currently owned by the New Indian Express Group and the Jupiter Capital, a company founded by the indian politician and multi-millionaire entrepreneur Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The tagline of Kannada Prabha is written on its masthead and is "The Most Powerful Kannada Newspaper".

History of Kannada Prabha
Recently completing 51 years, the Kannada Prabha newspaper is in its unstoppable marathon of top quality journalism. Since its first issue of 4th November, 1967, the newspaper has inherited the ideals of its founder and has been practising straight, bold and relentless journalism. Kannada Prabha was part of Indian Express` fight against the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, the only female Prime Minister of India in 1975. The newspaper also played an active role in Indian Express` campaign against Ms. Gandhi, and was instrumental in creating a public opinion in favour of the first non-Congress government at the Centre 1977.

The founder editor of Kannada Prabha was N S Seetharam Shastry and he was followed by K S Ramakrishna Murthy. Apart from these two editors, many illustrious editors have contributed to the establishment of Kannada Prabha. The most notable amongst them are Khadri Shamanna and Y.N. Krishnamurthy, who gave the reputation what the Kannada Prabha enjoys today. K Satyanarayana and Vekatanarayana also successfully bore the duties of Editor of Kannada Prabha. Currently, the editor of Kannada Prabha is Ravi Hegde, under whom the newspaper gained its credibility.

Sister Publications of Kannada Prabha
Kannada Prabha has two subsidiary publications: The New Indian Express and Sakhi. The New Indian Express is an Indian-English broadsheet daily newspaper published by the Chennai based Express Publications. This newspaper is now published from all 22 major cities including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha. And Sakhi is a fortnightly woman"s interest magazine, which is circulated only in Karnataka and has its headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Kannada Prabha has won the prestigious Karnataka Media Academy award for the Best Designed Newspaper successively, for three times since the inception of the award in the year 2005.
