Indian Newspapers in Regional Languages are numerous and in totality they gather and depict the spirit of Indian Media. Bengal has always been in the limelight for having a rich tradition of literary works.

Bengali Newspapers
It seems to be virtually in the blood of the Bengalis to have a literary bend of mind. Out of this tradition various notables launched a number of the newspapers during India`s struggle for independence as well as in the post independence period. Some of the Bengali newspapers still continuing to dominate the scenario are, Anandabazar Patrika is published from Kolkata and Siliguri and has its origin the independence period by the notable freedom fighter Prafulla Chandra Sarkar.

Aajkal is a Bengali daily published from Kolkata. It was launched in 1981. Bartaman Patrika is a leading Bengali newspaper published from Kolkata, Siliguri, Burdwan District, Malda and Midnapore.

Tamil Language Newspapers
There are nearly six newspapers printed in Tamil in Tamil Nadu. They are as follows, Dina Mani is a Tamil daily newspaper owned by the Indian Express group. Dina Malar is a Tamil daily launched at Thiruvananthapuram on September 1951. Dina Thanthi was established by Adithanar, a pioneer in the media industry of Tamil Nadu and is a daily Tamil newspaper. Dinakaran is a daily Tamil newspaper published from the important cities of Tamil Nadu. Malai Malar is a daily evening newspaper in Tamil and is owned by Daily Thanti group.

Malayala Manorama is a well-known and one of the prominent Malayalam newspapers published in Kerala. The Malayalam word Manorama means entertainer. The daily newspaper is now treated as an encyclopedia in this state as it covers all the latest events in and around chronologically and genealogically. Once, Malayala Manorama was regarded as the world`s largest circulated regional newspaper and at present has a readership of more than 16 million. The world`s largest circulated yearbook, Manorama Year Book, is published by the Manorama group, which manages the newspaper. The publishing house also has a popular weekly publication title The Week. This newspaper is best known for its layout and design. The Manorama group has a total of 32 publications in five languages. Matrika, Deepika, Deshabhimani, Matrubhumi are the other acknowledged newspapers.

Indian English Newspapers
The tradition of newspaper in India began with India`s struggle for independence. During this period the national leaders of India published several newspapers and journals and used it as a means for creating consciousness among the Indians. The Pioneer was founded in Allahabad by an Englishman George Allen in 1865 and is published from seven Indian cities. Daily News and Analysis is a Mumbai based English daily launched in 2005. The New Indian Express is a Chennai based English newspaper. Mid day is an afternoon newspaper with editions in Mumbai and Delhi. It publishes in three languages like English, Gujarati and Urdu language. The Sunday edition of the paper is called Sunday Mid-day.

Mumbai Mirror was launched by the Times Group in 2005 to provide information about the city of Mumbai.

Mint is a financial newspaper from the HT Media Ltd. and is the first newspaper to be published in the Berliner format.

The Deccan Chronicle is a newspaper in English published in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The Financial Express is a daily business newspaper, published by the Indian Express group in 1961.

The News Today is an English evening daily, published in Chennai. It was started in 1982.

The Tribune is published from Chandigarh. It was founded on 2nd February 1881 in Lahore.

The Deccan Herald was started in 1948 and is largely circulated English daily in Karnataka.

The Assam Tribune is an English daily newspaper published from Guwahati.

Asian Age was launched in February 1994 and is English daily, which is published from six major cities in India and one in London.
