Ghatampur is a taluka headquarters and a town in Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Ghatampur is surrounded by Gausganj in the east (18 km.), Gajner in the south (16 km.) Sarh in the west (21 km.) and Sajeti in the north (13 km.) Kanpur and Lucknow are situated at a distance of 40 km. and 113 km. respectively.The nearest railway station is the Ghatampur Railway Station and the nearest airport is at Kanpur. It is located between 26.17° North latitude and 80.17° East latitude at a height of 122 metres (400 feet) above mean sea level.
In the east of Ghatampur at a distance of 12 km. is Nimbia Khera, a village that boasts a 2000-year-old Shiva temple. Behta Buzurg, a small settlement 15 km from Ghatampur, is famous for an ancient Jagannath temple.
According to the 2001 census report, Ghatampur had a population of 35,496 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population.
