General Bipin Chandra Joshi was commissioned into Armoured Corps in 1954.He was the Brigadier General Staff in a Corps Headquarters and Military Advisor in Australia from 1973 to 1976. General Bipin Chandra Joshi was appointed as the staff officer in the UN Force in Gaza .He commanded the Eastern & southern command as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief. General Bipin Chandra Joshi served an Armoured Regiment in the Western Sector during the 1971 Indo-Pak operations. General Bipin Chandra Joshi was also appointed as the Director General of Perspective Planning (ADG PP) and Director General Military Operations (DGMO) at the Army Headquarters in New Delhi. General Bipin Chandra Joshi worked as the instructor of the Armoured Corps Centre and School Ahmednagar. Later he was also appointed as the Director of College of Combat, Mhow.
General Bipin Chandra Joshi assumed the charge of head of the Indian Army in 1993.General B C Joshi was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for dedicated service to the nation.
General Bipin Chandra Joshi passed away on 19th Nov 1994 when he was the head of the Indian Army.
