Bridal sarees have a vast majority of varieties. In fact every state in India has it own kind of bridal saree. Kanjeevaram is the most famous South-Indian bridal saree. Kanjeevaram is a saree from Tamil Nadu. Patt is a bridal saree from Kerala. Banarasi saree comes from the city of Banaras but is worn by many Bengali and Bihari brides. Most of the Bridal sarees are made of silk though some are made of net or fancy material. The most expensive are considered the south silk ones that are woven with pure gold. In fact it is said that if one had to remove the gold threads and melt them then anything from a few grams to almost a kilo of gold can be produced. The bridal sarees are also classified according to the work on them. For example, Zardozi work can be done on silk as well as net. Similarly, Gota lace can be attached to any kind of saree to make it look bridal.
Present Trend of Bridal Sarees
Earlier it was compulsory for Indian brides to wear heavy Benarasi saree on the wedding day but now it is not so but still the brides to prefer wear sarees for their wedding. Although the styles and embroidery of sarees have changed, they have become much trendier and light. Earlier much more heavy work was used, while now the style is rich as well as sleek and light in fabric. Apart from the traditional prints and weaves, nowadays fashion designers are creating new and innovative designs. In today"s wedding ceremonies woman prefers to wear sarees in various styles. Fashion designers advanced with new ways to drape wedding sarees, which have become quite popular among today"s women. Today Bridal sarees have a lot of work done on them.
