In Chennai, The Birla Planetarium used to cast a spell in the minds of its viewers for its hi-tech presentation and savvy formatting. It is established at Kotturpuram, almost sandwiched two important locales of Guindy and Adyar. Adjacent to the planetarium, there is a Periyar Science and Technology Museum, a hub of activities for all the science scholars and researchers. This planetarium also organizes shows demonstrating all the advancements in the fields of science and technology.
It has been constructed in the memory of B.M Birla. Multitudes of schools have made it a point to send their students to take a glance of this planetarium. There is a special projector applied to bring to life various wonders of whole of universe like planets, meteors, comets, telescopes, eclipses, images are being created on a semi-circular auditorium.
