Bhavans College, Andheri, MumbaiBhavans College, a part of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, was established in the year 1946 by noted philosopher and statesman Dr. K. M. Munshi. Dr. Vallabhai Patel inaugurated the college. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India at that time, had described the college as "Mini-India". Located in Andheri, Mumbai, Bhavans College is segregated into 3 segments based on 3 different course streams, namely, Narrondass Manordass Institute of Science, Bhavan`s Megji Mathradas College of Arts, Haji Rashid Jaffer College of Commerce. Currently, Dr. M.L.Shrikant is the chairman and Dr. V. I. Katchi is the Principal of the college. Bhavans College, Andheri, Mumbai is affiliated to the University of Mumbai for the various courses it offers to students, such as B.Sc., B.A., B.Com., M.Sc., M.A., and Ph.D. Degrees.

The college campus is spread across a vast 45 acre of land. The college is known for giving great emphasis to sports, which explains the presence of a huge basketball and Volleyball courts. The major attraction of the college is its botanical garden. The college hosts an annual fest called "O2". Bhavans is also known for its nature and amateur radio clubs. The college also consists of a library, computer labs and laboratories. The college also has an active placement that helps the students get jobs in various corporations.

The college committee consisted of Shri Pravinchandra V. Gandhi. Other members of this college are V. Gandhi, Shri Amratlal, G. Sonawala, Mm. J.H. Dave, Shri N.K. Somani, Shri Yusufali R. Jaffer, Shri Jayaramdas Patel, S.M. Parekh, Shri H.N. Dastur, Dr. M.L. Shrikant, and Prof. C.B. Shah.

Courses offered at Bhavans College
Bhavans College provides graduation and post graduation courses in streams of Arts, Science, Commerce, Information Technology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Management Studies and Mass Media. The graduation courses require 3 years to be completed and the eligibility for admission in these courses is completion of 10+2. Time for the completion of the post graduation courses is 2 years.

Bhavans College has around 1080 seats in the Science department, where as Arts consists of 360 seats.The numbers of seats in the streams like Commerce, Electronics, Computer science and IT are accordingly 560, 100, 75, and 60 respectively.
