Bhavans College, a part of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, was established in the year 1946 by noted philosopher and statesman Dr. K. M. Munshi. Dr. Vallabhai Patel inaugurated the college. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India at that time, had described the college as "Mini-India". Located in Andheri, Mumbai, Bhavans College is segregated into 3 segments based on 3 different course streams, namely, Narrondass Manordass Institute of Science, Bhavan`s Megji Mathradas College of Arts, Haji Rashid Jaffer College of Commerce. Currently, Dr. M.L.Shrikant is the chairman and Dr. V. I. Katchi is the Principal of the college. Bhavans College, Andheri, Mumbai is affiliated to the University of Mumbai for the various courses it offers to students, such as B.Sc., B.A., B.Com., M.Sc., M.A., and Ph.D. Degrees.
The college campus is spread across a vast 45 acre of land. The college is known for giving great emphasis to sports, which explains the presence of a huge basketball and Volleyball courts. The major attraction of the college is its botanical garden. The college hosts an annual fest called "O2". Bhavans is also known for its nature and amateur radio clubs. The college also consists of a library, computer labs and laboratories. The college also has an active placement that helps the students get jobs in various corporations.
