Babul Supriyo
Babul Supriyo is a celebrated Indian playback singer, now turned into a national level politician hailing from West Bengal, who has numerous hit songs to his credit. He is now serving as Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.

Babul Supriyo was originally named Supriyo Baral. He was born in Kolkata. His grandfather, Banikantha N. C. Baral was a celebrated Bengali vocalist and composer. Rai Chand Baral also belongs to his family, who is considered as one of the most applauded composers of the Bengali music.

The training of Babul Supriyo in the field of music started from a very affectionate age. After completing his educational degrees, Babul got a lucrative job at the Standard Chartered bank but his passion and ambition towards music drove him to give up the job.

Career of Babul Supriyo
In 1992 Babul Supriyo moved to Mumbai. After much struggle he achieved the opportunity to sing for T-Series, the cover versions of popular Kishore Kumar songs. In due course, he managed to fetch a stage break under celebrated music composer duo Kalyanji Anandji in their foreign concert tour along with legendary Amitabh Bachchan and others. He got his first solo break in 1994, with Zindagi Chaar Din Ki for Rishi Kapoor in `Prem Yog` under the music direction of music composer Bappi Lahiri.

Then onwards he has yielded for the films like `Ekka Raja Rani`, `Gaddar`, `Jung`, `Kranti Shetra`, `Dadagiri`, `Shastra`, `Amanat` and so on. He sang some hit songs during that time. Babul rose to fame with the song -"Dil ne dil ko pukara" from the film `Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai`

Apart from his Bollywood playback-singing career, Babul Supriyo has also launched his debut solo album "Sochta Hun...." Before that Babul along with famous playback singer Alka Yagnik featured in an album `Khoya Khoya Chand.` He won the MTV Immies Award in 2003 for his album, "Sochta Hun...." He has even anchored a show, "K for KISHORE" and has lent his voice for Balaji tele serials.

Political Career of Babul Supriyo
Babul Supriyo began his political career after entering in the regional political hemisphere of Bahratiya Janata Party. He joined politics in March 2014. After that, he became member of the Bharatiya Janta Party. In this year, he contested in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Now, he is currently a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Asansol in West Bengal. On 9th November 2014, he became the youngest minister to be included in the Cabinet of Narendra Modi`s Government. He is now currently serving as the Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
