Akashdeep Saigal once upon a time led in the television serial Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He hails from the state of Punjab and is a thorough Punjabi. He became popular for his villainous role as Ansh Gujral in Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He was voted as one of the sexiest man of the Indian Television by the Elle Magazine in 1997. Akash won the Gladrags Manhunt contest in 1998.
Early life of Akashdeep Saigal
Akashdeep was born on 29th October in 1974. He studied at the Danbhai Cawasji High School, Khandala as a day scholar till the 6th standard. After that he joined the S.S. Sahani High School where he completed his 10th standard. He then went to Mumbai and joined MMK College where he graduated in Commerce. In the year 1997, he got his portfolio done by Ashok Salian and within no time he was a fashion model. He has been modelling for about 4 years doing commercials like Bombay Dyeing, Coke, Chiclets and lots more. His inspiration, he says, was Amitabh Bachhan who has a really positive aura around him.
Career of Akashdeep Saigal
It was after the participation in the Gladrags Model Contest in 1997 that Akashdeep Saigal got his first break in Bollywood in the year 2001 with Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. He did not have to struggle much and opportunities flowered on him after the contest. He could not make an impact on the audience was not much and he got an offer with Supari in 2003. This film brought him into focus of many film filmmakers. He then went into making documentaries on archaeological stuff like Ajanta and Ellora and other ancient monuments and relics.
He also wanted to do something more creative and was waiting for the big break to come his way, which ultimately happened with Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Initially he was told that the role of Ansh was only for a period of four months but then the role was such a huge hit with the audience that it went on for a span of four years. He was also offered the project of Kkusum and felt it nice to sport the clean-shaven look after the unshaven look and ponytail, which he sported for two years for `Kyunki`. To get the rugged look he had get gone to the hairdresser over twenty times for this look. His role in `Kyunki` was so popular that the ex Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee told the lead actress of the serial Smriti Irani (who played the role of Tulsi Virani) not to end the role of Ansh in this serial because he enjoyed their scenes. His character of Usmaan, in the serial Time Bomb 9/11 which was aired on Zee Television also been appraised. He essayed the role of a terrorist in this serial. In another Balaji production Kasam Se also he played the role of a terrorist in one of the episodes.
He also participated in the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhla Ja.
