Activation of Mooladhara ChakraThe Mooladhara Chakra or base chakra represents raw, basic, uncontrolled instincts. It can be defined as the underlying, undisciplined frenzy of nature. In Tantra Mooladhara Chakra is represented by the goddess Dakini, who has four red hands. She carries a whip, and her hands remain dipped in blood. There are various signposts that help in activating the base chakra.

Symbol: The symbol is a cube which is very hard and is sharply defined. The cube resembles a sort of a jigsaw puzzle that is made up of millions of particles all of different shapes. The cube represents all the diverse forces of nature that is strongly controlled by the powerful goddess Dakini.

Colour: The colour is nasty greenish-yellow. The colour is not completely blended but is a continuous color. It is made up of all the different pieces of nasty fecal matter.

Emotion: The emotion here is very sullen and filled with anger of someone who is at the mercy of frees that is no longer under his control. He is being tossed and flung in the middle of a hurricane or an earthquake, or in lava that comes out of a volcano. He is tinged into this sullen resentful anger and feels envious of the power of the person that is controlling him. The anger then explodes into futile frenzy.

Element: The Earth is on the verge of being formed from the primeval soup of the world in the turmoil of creation. The earth seems to be swamp-like, oozing, and dangerous.

Activation of Mooladhara Chakra Sound: The sound does not have any rhythm. It sounds is like that of beating of dark heavy drums. It is a jumble of sound that cannot be understood by the mind. The mantra that can be heard is LAM. It is broken into LA-M which is not a continuous sound. The silent M is the bodily hum that keeps vibrating at a deep note and gradually affects the upper legs and the anus.

Animal: The animal here is a berserk elephant. The elephant with its full power is seen running amok. With its uncontrollable rage the elephant turns around and kills its keeper. It shakes its head in fury and charges through a house and destroys it. It has no particular direction.

Material: The materials used are sulphur that boils and churns in a vat. Beneath it the raw red heat is visible. One tiny drop of this boiling sulphur touches the anus that causes extreme pain. It is this pain and comprehension that welcomes one into the material of this chakra.

Taste: The taste is like a raw rotten egg yolk that can be easily imagined. The egg yolk stinks, and the stink is transferred into your mouth and throat.

Goddess: The goddess of this chakra is Dakini who is the the ultimate, underlying nature goddess. She is depicted as all-powerful. She needs Lord Shiva to accomplish herself which makes her angry. She is unaware of the reason for her need of Shiva that becomes frantic. She tries to bring all her primeval emotions into control in which she finally succeeds. Although she controls the baser elements of the earth she is in a frenzy to control her own emotions.

These are the vital steps in activating the Mooladhara Chakra. By spending an hour sitting quietly in stem meditation these facets of the base chakra ultimately pushes all these feelings down into the anus.
