University of Mumbai is located in Maharashtra. It is one of the first three Universities of India.

University of Mumbai, MaharashtraUniversity of Mumbai was established in the year 1857 by Dr. John Wilson. It was known as University of Bombay. The University has been functioning as one of the premier Universities of the country. Initially the University offered undergraduate courses and gradually it started offering postgraduate courses and research programmes in various disciplines. In 1996, the name of the university was changed from University of Bombay to University of Mumbai. University of Mumbai has been given a ranking of five stars by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

At present the university offers various diploma, certificate undergraduate, post graduate and research based courses through several faculties including Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Commerce, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Law & Faculty of Journalism. There are also other academic departments and institute spread over the two campuses of the university. The University has 354 affiliated colleges including colleges of Home Science, B.Pharm. Engineering, Medicine ,Nursing ,Unani Medicine, Vocational Subjects, Architecture, Fine Arts, Social Work, Law, Homeopathic Medicine, Management Studies .
