To all the historians it is ideal haven. Amongst several displayed items, special attraction is the ancient coins. They are in usage at the time of reign of the Rajput kings. Other artifacts include ancient utensils, instruments and physical objects of daily use. These were also used during primitive times. Exquisite textiles and clothes used for decking up the ancient Rajput rulers. They also are displayed in this museum. A huge collection of fossils, which were found in Thar Desert, also is exhibited. One can visit this museum from Monday to Sunday, however Tuesday is closed. Timing of visit is 9 am to 8 pm,

Jaisalmer Folklore Museum:
Jaisalmer Folklore MuseumIt has achieved acclamation as one of the significant museums of Jaisalmer. It has its location on the banks of Lake Garsisar. It is a preserve of traditional artifacts of Jaisalmer as well as the whole of the rich tradition and culture of West Rajasthan . It was formed in the year 1984. It has a vistas of items like paintings, musical instruments, ancient coins, holographs, camel embellishes, mailing-cards, pictures, fossils and rarities. All the researchers and lovers of art who want to know the rich history of Jaisalmer, Folk Art Museum history is an ideal place to be ventured. Truly it is a very informative and fascinating.

Government Museum in Jaisalmer is a landmark and also one of the important museums of Jaisalmer. It was inaugurated in the year 1984. It lies on Police Line Road in the vicinity of Moomal Hotel.

The huge preserve of objects like wood and sea fossils help one to get insight into the region`s glorious past days. There are sculptures, which belonged to primitive towns like Kiradu and also Lodurva bear proofs of the artistic tradition of the then society. These are as old as 12th century pulsating with glory and grandeur. Unique is a beautiful glass case exhibiting the Great Indian Bustard and Tilor.

The large collection of wood and marine fossils in the museum gives an insight into the geological past of the area. The sculpture from the ancient townships of Kiradu and Time to visit this museum is 10.00 am to 4:30 pm. No entry fee is required on Monday. This museum remain closed on Fridays and all the gazatted holidays.
