The continuation of the mental effort (dharna) to concentrate on a fixed point is yoga meditation or dhyana. When the duration of concentration is prolonged in the same line of thought, contemplation naturally follows. Yoga meditation is the unbroken flow of realization of the object in the light of self-conciousness after the object has been fixed that forms the main activity of this stage. In yoga meditation (dhyana) the senses, instead of anyalyzing the objects by themselves and thus using the energy of the mind, combines and forms a powerful focus and with the mind at their head enter into the reality of the object.
According to the psychology of consciousness, when the `soul-cells` are once properly placed under rhythmic vibrations, the same vibrations if not disturbed produces a deeper state in that particular conditions.
In the traditional Yoga Meditation, one systematically works with senses, body, breath, the various levels of mind, and then goes beyond, to the center of consciousness. The science of Yoga Meditation is a complete science. Traditional Yoga Meditation is holistic where it deals with all levels individually, and then integrates them with one another, and also involves a broad range of practices, including meditation, contemplation, prayer, and mantra, as well as the preparatory practices. Traditional Yoga Meditation also explores all the levels of reality and self-construction.
