Yangtey, GangtokYangtey is a wonderful hill station nestled in Gangtok, the capital of the northern Indian state of Sikkim. It is situated at an altitude of 6000 feet approximately 9 kms from Pelling. From here, one can enjoy the spectacular view of the snow-capped peak of Mt. Kanchenjunga and other peaks of the Eastern Himalayas. Surrounded with stunning mountains, picturesque sites and lush greenery, this is an ideal place for all the nature admirers and photographers. Yangtey can be explored throughout the year but the best season to view the peaks is the winter.

Beauty of Yangtey
The main highlight of this place is its picturesque location. It itself is a beautiful place and is located in such a way that it offers amazing views of the various stunning snow caped mountains such as Mt Kanchenjangha, Rathong, Frey, Kabru Dom, Pandim, Narsing and Tinchikhang Siniolchu. One can clearly view the sun rising from behind the snow capped mountains shrouded in the morning mists.

Attractions of Yangtey
Apart from enjoying the scenic views, tourists have ample opportunities to explore some ancient monasteries, waterfalls and lakes. In the nearest town of Pelling, there is Pemayangtse Monastery, belonging to the Nyingmapa sect. The monastery is known for housing ancient sculptures and wall paintings. Tourists visiting Pemayangtse monastery in January-February can even witness a religious dance called "Cham". Then there are ruins of Rabdantse and a forest in the nearby area that are worth visiting.

The other nearby attractions of Yangtey includes Changey waterfalls, Kangchendzonga waterfalls, Rimbi Waterfalls, Khecheopari Lake and Sewaro Rock Garden. The Changey Waterfall is located at a distance of 19 km from Yangtey and the Kangchendzonga waterfall is around 30 kms away. The Khecheopari Lake is regarded as one of the holy lakes in Sikkim. As per locals, there is not a single leaf on the lake surface which is said to be cleared by birds. Sewaro Rock Garden is equally well-known as it is home to flowers, fountains, gardens, ponds, swimming pool, cafeteria and well-maintained rocks. A fair called Maghe mela is also celebrated at the site.

Connectivity to Yangtey
Hill Stations in Sikkim Yangtey is well linked by road network. It is situated approximately 106 kms from Siliguri and just 2 kms from Geyzing. One can avail car or jeep services from New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri to reach Yangtey.
