The advertisement regarding the notification of important dates and application forms appears in all the leading national and local dailies of India generally in the month of August. Candidates can get the application from along with the information prospectus either by making cash payment or through a nationalized bank draft drawn in favour of "XLRI Jamshedpur" (payable at Jamshedpur) of the requisite amount from the admissions office of Xavier Labour Research Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI). The candidates can also download the application form from the official website of XLRI. The candidates need to submit the completed application form along with all the essential documents and the demand draft before the last submission date. In order to register for Xavier Admission Test (XAT), the aspirants need to fill up the XAT application form through online. They need to follow the instructions given in the official website. After that they will obtain their Identity card and password.

Eligibility Criteria for Xavier Admission Test (XAT)
The minimum academic qualification required for appearing in Xavier Admission Test (XAT) is a Bachelor`s degree (3 years) or any equivalent in any stream of study or discipline from any recognised University. Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.

Pattern of Examination
XAT is basically a single stage written test that is followed by a group discussion and personal interview. The group discussion and the personal interview are conducted by the concerned management institutes. It is of 2 hours duration and the test paper comprises 200 questions. The test paper is generally divided into three main sections and the sections are -

• Verbal Ability (English) and Reading Comprehension (80 questions)

• Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics) and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (60 questions)

• General Awareness (60 questions)

It is followed by an essay writing section, the duration of which is 15 to 20 minutes. The test paper follows the provision of negative marking.
