Wilson Hills, Valsad District, GujaratWilson Hills is a hill station nestled in the Valsad district of the Indian state of Gujarat. Dense forest encompasses the region which is located near the Pangarbari Wildlife Sanctuary. Wilson Hills is one of the few hill stations on the earth which offers glimpses of the sea. This rare view of Arabian Sea makes it a place worth visiting. Wilson Hills forms a popular tourist destination in summer. It has an average elevation of 750metres (2500 feet).

History of Wilson Hills
Wilson Hills has been named after the Governor of Mumbai from 1923 to 1928, Lord Wilson, by the last king of Dharampur, Vijay Dev. King Vijay Dev and Lord Wilson had planned to develop it into a beautiful hill station. However the project failed for some reason. In the year 2003, a businessman from Vapi, named Ashish Birendra Sharma established a company for finally developing the place as a hill resort and promoting tourism in the region. The peak houses a monument in the memory of King Vijay Dev and Lord Wilson.

Geography of Wilson Hills
Owing to its elevation, Wilson Hills enjoys a cooler and less humid climate than the nearby regions. Mostly throughout the year the place is blessed with cool winds and clear sky. The climate during the summer remains warm, but cool breeze blow from the sea. The average rainfall in Wilson Hills has been recorded to be 1500 to 2000 mms. During monsoons, lush greenery surrounds the place which soothes the eyes. Wilson Hills gets really cold during winters.

Tourism in Wilson Hills
Wilson Hills hosts a number of tourist spots. Marble Chhatri stands at the peak of the hills and the monument was built in the memory of King Vijaya Dev and the British Governor, Lord Wilson. Ozone valley is another tourist attraction of the place and is greatly cherished by the mountaineers and trekkers. Nature and adventure lovers also enjoy this place. From this point a number of waterfalls and beautiful streams can be accessed. Wilson Hills has a sunrise and sunset point located at a vantage point of the hill which offers mesmerizing views of the sunrise and sunsets. A serene lake and a spectacular valley form the backdrop, painting an unforgettable picture of nature. The place also has a Wilson Hills museum which houses many precious artefacts associated with the history and facts of Wilson Hills. Pangarbari Wildlife Sanctuary situated nearby can also be visited. Visiting Information
Wilson Hills presents a refreshing time to the visitors and is thus frequented by tourists. The place is best visited from October to March. The nearest airport is located at Surat. Valsad, situated at a distance of 60 kilometres, serves as the nearest railhead to reach Wilson Hills. The place is also well connected to the major cities of Gujarat such as Dharampur, Navsari and Surat. The private taxis can be hired by the visitors.
