West Central Railway was a private company during the British rule in India. After independence this was nationalized and became a part of the Indian railway services. This zone was reconstituted in April 2003 to cater to the needs of the passengers. Since then its headquarters is situated at Jabalpur. Apart from Jabalpur the other divisions are Bhopal and Kota. Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and others are connected via several trains that run regularly at West Central Railway, Jabalpur.
