Wax Museums in IndiaA wax museum, also known as waxworks can be defined as a storehouse of wax sculptures representing famous people from history and contemporary personalities. They are displayed in lifelike poses, wearing real clothes. Similar to the popular Madam Tussauds in London, various wax museums have been established in India. These museums are storehouses of the replicas of the famous personalities of India as well as the world.

Mother`s Wax Museum
Mother`s Wax Museum is located in the metropolitan city of Kolkata in West Bengal. More specifically, this museum is located in the satellite township of Rajarhat, New Town. It serves as a depository of 19 wax statues of famous personalities, belonging to different work fields. A veteran wax sculpture named Susanta Ray is credited with the creation of all the spectacular wax figures. This museum was opened to public by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee. Some of the Indian icons whose wax models adorn the Mother`s Wax Museum are nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore; singers like Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar; and politician, Narendra Modi.

Celebrity Wax Museum, Kochi
Celebrity Wax Museum in Kochi in the state of Kerala was established in order to deliver an interactive experience and to take one on a journey through wax effigy. It serves as a home to wax models of the national and international personalities like India"s father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi; social activist, Anna Hazare; Bruce Lee etc. This museum claims to be the ultimate entertainment experience for the visitors.

It serves as a home to wax models of national and international personalities like India"s former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee; German politician, Adolf Hitler; English comic actor, Charlie Chaplin etc.

A museum named Wax Museum is located in Kanyakumari in the state of Tamil Nadu. More specifically, this museum is located in a park called the Baywatch Amusement Park. Some of the world"s famous icons whose wax figures adorn this museum are film stars like Rajnikanth and Jackie Chan; India"s former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mahatma Gandhi.

K Dev Bhoomi Wax Museum is located in the Mussoorie in the state of Uttarakhand. Some of the world`s most influential personalities whose wax statues are preserved in this museum are Jawaharlal Nehru, Swami Vivekananda and Barack Obama.
