Waterfalls in Odisha are one of the major tourist attractions of the state. Odisha is a state with numerous rivers which are fed by monsoon rains. These create waterfalls. Some of the popular water falls are Badaghagra, Duduma, Harishankar, Hatipathar, Phurli Jharan and so on.
Badaghagra Falls
Badaghagra falls is about 60 metres. It is situated around 10 km from Keonjha District. This is one of the major tourist attractions in Odisha.
Barehipani Falls
Barehipani Falls is around 399 metres and Joranda is around150 metres. It is situated in the Simlipal National Park or Simlipal Tiger Reserve.
Duduma Falls
Duduma Fall is also known as Matsya Tirtha. It is famous for the waterfall that is around 157.5 metres. Dumduma Falls on the River Machhakunda. It is also the site of the famous Machhakund Hydro-Electric Project. It is categorized as a horsetail falls.
Harishankar Falls
Harishankar falls is situated on the southern slope of the Gandhamardan hills. It is around 81 km from Balangir.
Hatipathar Falls
It is around 3 km from Rayagada. The river Nagavali flows through a deep cut valley that forms two waterfalls. The place gets its name from huge elephant shaped boulders that dirty the landscape.
Joranda Falls
Joranda is around 150 metres which is situated in the core area of Simlipal National Park.
Khandadhar Falls
Khandahar is situated in the Sundargarh region. It is about 244 metres, aprime tourist importance in Odisha.
Khanduala Falls
Khanduala get its name from the shrine of the Goddess Khnaduala that is situated on the top of the hill.
Miriglotah Falls
Miriglotah is situated 111 km from Rourkela, and it is famous for Chilka Lake.
Phurli Jharan Falls
Phurli Jharan is around 16 metres that is located around 15 km from Bhawanipatna. This waterfall is of tourism importance because this area is popular for the presence of Hindu temples.
Pradhanpat Falls
Pradhanpat waterfalls are close to Deogarh. It is around 100 km from Sambalpur, famous for the textiles.
Putudi Falls
Putudi is located 15 km from Phulbani. This waterfall falls on the river Bada Saluki.
Sanaghagra Falls
Sanaghagra falls is about 30 metres that is situated around 5 km from Keonjhar District of Odisha. The ideal time to visit this is during the months from October to March.
