They also provide support to the flying operations for both the military and the civil aviations. From July 2007, Visakhapatnam inducted the night landing facility with the Dornier of the Indian Navy lifting off from the new landing installation. The airport authority has a plan to make this airport an international one by the end of 2008. It was Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr. Praful Patel who had announced that, `the Visakhapatnam airport would be improved to international standards with new runway, night landing and modern facilities like instrument landing system, distance measuring equipment, by 2008`. Indian Airlines (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Raipur); Air Deccan (Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Tirupathi); Jet Lite (Mumbai, Hyderabad); Kingfisher Airlines (Hyderabad, Chennai); Paramount Airways (Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore) are some of the airlines flying by the Visakhapatnam Airport.
