Vijay Mallya is a famous industrialist from India who became the first Indian to own the Formula One team. He is the chairman of United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines. Vijay Mallya is a liquor and airline baron, whose United Spirits is world`s second largest liquor maker. He is also an MP in the Indian Rajya Sabha.

Early Life of Vijay Mallya
Vijay Mallya was born on December 18, 1955 in Kolkata. His father, Vittal Mallya, was a famous industrialist. Vijay Mallya belongs to the Goud Sarswat Brahmin caste. He received his education from La Martiniere Boys` College in Kolkata. He also went to St. Xavier`s College Later he graduated from University of Calcutta.

Career of Vijay Mallya
Vijay Mallya began his career setting up set up business ventures in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In 1983 he became the Chairman of the United Breweries Group. Under his active leadership the company received the multi-national status. Mallya bought sixty companies across the world and thus the company has become the conglomerate of over sixty firms. The UB Group has different kinds of business throughout the world like- alcoholic beverages, life sciences, engineering, agriculture, chemicals, information technology and leisure. He is also the chairman of United National Breweries, a South African company that makes traditional sorghum beer. In 2005 he took over Millennium Breweries Ltd that was earlier known as Inertia Industries Ltd. He also owns the Marin Scope Newspapers which serve Marin County, California.

Vijay Mallya also started a new domestic airline service called Kingfisher Airlines in 2003. In a very short span of time Kingfisher Airline established itself as a good service provider. It is the first airline in India that provides all new aircrafts to the passengers. Kingfisher Airlines is also the first Indian airline, which already orders for the luxurious Airbus A380 of the world. At present the airline connects 32 cities around the country. Mallya became a strategic partner for Epic Aircraft-a U.S based aircraft manufacturing company in 2007.He expects that he can move to aircraft making business with the help of this company.

Apart from business Mallya also has shown inclination in professional car racing, horse racing, and aviation. He won several awards in these fields. Mallya along with the Mol family from The Netherlands acquired the Spyker F1 team in 2007. The team was named as Force India F1 in 2008. The United Breweries sponsors the East Bengal and Mohun Bagan football clubs in Kolkata. Mallya is also the owner of the East Bengal Football Club in Kolkata. He shows his interest in Cricket also. Presently he is the owner of the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team. In 2007 Mallya became the 664th richest person in the world with a net fortune of $1.5 billion. Vijay Mallya is well known for his showy and ostentatious lifestyle.

He founded Mallya Hospital in Bengaluru and donated huge money for the Mallya Aditi International School, a prestigious private school in Bangalore. He also represents India in the FIA World Motor Sport Council, where he has a seat from 2009 to 2013.

In the year of 2000, Vijay Mallya entered into the political arena of India. He was made the President of Janata Party in place of Subramaniam Swamy. Presently, he is a member of Rajya Sabha.

Personal Life of Vijay Mallya
Vijay Mallya was married to Sameera and they are blessed with one son, Siddharth Mallya. Later he married Rekha and has two daughters, Leiana and Tanya Mallya.
