The Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground is situated at the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra. The first test match played in this stadium was played here on 3rd October 1969 between India and New Zealand. The seating capacity is 40,000. The two ends are Jaika end and Church end. The first One Day International played here was between India and England played in January 23, 1985.
The Vidarva C.A. Stadium has been proved very lucky for many of the Indian Cricketers. This stadium witnessed the successful ODI comeback of Sachin Tendulkar after his elbow surgery when he contributed 93 runs in the winning of Indian team. Tendulkar possessed a great record in this ground. He had three test centuries and an average of over 70 in the One Day Internationals.
Sunil Gavaskar scored his only one day and world cup century here when India won by a large margin against New Zealand in their final encounter in the Reliance World Cup of 1987.
The pitch of Vidarbha C.A. Ground Nagpur was rebuilt in the year 1999. It has subsequently become very notorious and offers assistance to the pace bowlers. The Australians took the full advantage of this pitch and beat India in the 2004 series.
