Vasudevan Baskaran is an Indian field Hockey player who is remembered as a captain of the team that won for India Olympic Gold in hockey.

Vasudevan Baskaran, Indian Hockey PlayerVasudevan Baskaran was born on August 17, 1950. This former field hockey player represented India several times. During his captaincy, the Indian team won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. For the year of 1979-1980, he was conferred the Arjuna Award.

Career of Vasudevan Baskaran
After his active career, Baskaran joined to the post of coach in the Indian National Hockey Team several times. But the most disappointing match happened in the last time at the 2006 Men`s Hockey World Cup in Monchengladbach. India finished in a disappointing eleventh place. It was during this time the selectors opted for Vasudevan Baskaran.

Vasudevan Baskaran does not consider the wasting of time. At the moments after being made the national hockey coach for the third time, the former Vasudevan Baskaran Olympic Gold-Medallist jumped to the defence of Indian Hockey Federation`s (IHF) selection of the squad.
