Vandalur serves as a famous tourist spot visited by many tourists throughout the year. One of the famous spots to visit here is the Arignar Anna Zoological Park. It is also known as Vandalur Zoo and was built in the 1855. It was then inaugurated in year 1985 and is spread over an area of 1300. The zoo provides shelter to more than 170 species of mammals, aviaries and reptiles. Another important visiting spot in the town is the Vandalur hill. It forms a part of the Arignar Anna Zoological Park. Tourists can get a glimpse of the panoramic view of Bay of Bengal. Tamil Nadu Forest department has a sapling centre under the foothill of Vandalur Hill. Apart from these there are many pilgrimage centres located here. Some of the famous temples located here are Arai Kaasu Amman Temple, Padappai Church, CSI Church, Sri Chelli Amman Temple, Sri Mutharamman Temple, Kuttikulasai, Lakshmi Kuberar Temple, Rathinamangalam Village, Sri Agatheeswarar Temple, Kollapakkam, Iraniamman Kovil, Kaligambal temple, Singarathottam, Mookambigai Amman Koil and others.

Vandalur is well connected with all modes of transport. Tourists can avail buses plying from various locations for Vandalur. The Vandalur railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway network is located close to Vandalur.
