Vaigai Dam, Tamil NaduVaigai Dam was primarily built for providing water for irrigation for the Madurai district and the Dindigul district as well as drinking water to Madurai and Andipatti. This dam is built across the Vaigai River near Andipatti, in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. The Government of Tamil Nadu has constructed the Agricultural Research Station, near the dam. This research station initiates the growth of a variety of crops, including rice, blackgram, sorghum, cowpea and cotton.
