The character, Usha is found in the Hindu mythology. According to the mythology, she is the wife of the Rudra Bhava and she is also the daughter of Bana. It is said that she saw Aniruddha in a dream and then became enamored by him. She related this to a female confidante, named Chitrarikha and the confidante advised her to employ a portrait painter. The painter was employed for taking likenesses of all the young princes in the neighbourhood. Once the work was completed, Usha saw the portrait of Aniruddha, who was the grandson of Krishna, and she recognized the youth she had seen in her dream.

Usha got some more services from the same confidante; Chitrarikha and Usha became successful to secretly meet Aniruddha by the means of Chitrarikha. However, Usha was soon caught by her mother, Bana and Bana made Aniruddha a prisoner. After that, Aniruddha`s grandfather, Krishna entered into the scene and Aniruddha was released, after a terrible fight. Later, both the parents also agreed to a marriage between Usha and Aniruddha and the marriage was also publicly celebrated at Dwaraka.
