Early Life of Urmila Sathyanarayana
Urmila Sathyanarayana has been a student of Bharatnatyam since the age of 5 and did her arrangetram at the age of 10. Urmila Sathyanarayana made her debut in Bharatnatyam dance in the year 1976. Urmila Sathyanarayana has presented dozens of recitals in India and abroad and earned excellent reviews from eminent critics. Urmila Sathyanarayana has danced in practically every national and international level dance festival in India.

Career of Urmila Sathyanarayana
Urmila Sathyanarayana has performed in venues at the national and international level, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Kalaimamani award of the state of Tamil Nadu. Urmila Sathyanarayana has toured Europe and United Sates of America extensively and participated in the "Festival of India" at Edinburgh. The dedication of Urmila Sathyanarayana to the art is total. Urmila Sathyanarayana started Natya Sankalpa in the year 1996, at Kilpauk, Chennai. Natya Sankalpa is now giving emphasises on the knowledge of the theory of dance, Carnatic music and yoga in the formation of a Bharatnatyam artist. Among the staff of Natya Sankalpa are talented artists such as Kalidasan Suresh a renowned choreographer, and one of the few artists who can both wield the cymbals and provide vocal support simultaneously for a Bharatanatyam recital.
