Universities of Tamil Nadu have helped the state to attain a distinguish position in the educational sphere of India. These universities impart higher education in diverse fields of study. Some of these universities are Alagappa University, Annamalai University, University of Madras and Periyar University.

The university has been reaccredited with an `A+` Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Annamalai University
Annamalai University is located in Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram. It was set up in the year 1929. The university occupies a land of about 1,500 acres. The university has 48 departments, which are involved in imparting higher education in various disciplines.

Periyar University

University of Madras

The university has 73 academic departments, which are grouped under 18 schools. Bharathiar University
Bharathiar University is located at Marudamalai in Coimbatore. The university was set up in the year 1982. It has derived its name from the name of a Tamil poet, Subramania Bharathiar. It is one of the prestigious universities of Tamil Nadu. The university conducts graduate, masters, M.Phil and Ph. D programs in various subjects.

Madurai Kamraj University
Madurai Kamraj University is located at Palkali Nagar in Madurai. It was set up in the year 1966. There are 73 postgraduate departments in the university. The university plays a crucial role in imparting higher education in various disciplines.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is situated in Coimbatore. It was set up in the year 1971. The university is one of the reputed agricultural universities of India. It offers 12 undergraduate courses and 29 postgraduate degree courses in various fields of agriculture.

Bharath University
