Universities of Punjab
Universities of Punjab have carved a niche for themselves in the academic scenario of India. These educational institutes cover various disciplines and are situated in different parts of Punjab. Some of these universities are Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab Agricultural University.

Punjabi University
Punjabi University is situated in Patiala. It was set up in the year 1962. It seeks to develop and encourage the growth of Punjabi language, literature and culture. It has received the highest "Five Star Level Status" from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university has 65 teaching and research departments. Humanities, science, fine arts, computer science and business management are the disciplines in which degrees are offered to students. The university campus occupies an area of about 2.4 square kilometers.

Guru Nanak Dev University

Punjab Agricultural University
Punjab Agricultural University is located in Ludhiana. It was established in the year 1962. It is widely acclaimed as one of the best agricultural universities in Asia and the third-oldest agricultural university in India. The university offers five bachelors, fifty-one masters and forty-two doctorate programmes in fifty departments of five constituent colleges. This university has gained success in the field of sports and has facilities for playing basketball, badminton, cricket, etc.

I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University
I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University is situated at Jalandhar. It was set up on 16th of January, 1997, by an act of State Legislature. The aim behind its establishment was the promotion of technical, management and pharmaceutical education in Punjab at degree level and above. Swami Sarvanand Giri Panjab University Regional Centre
Swami Sarvanand Giri Panjab University Regional Centre is a NAAC accredited "Five Star University" in Chandigarh. This is the most versatile off-campus establishment of Panjab University. The university offers bachelor degrees in electronics and communication engineering, computer science and engineering, mechanical engineering, information and technology engineering and electrical and electronics engineering. Other degrees offered are Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B), Bachelor of Laws B.A LL.B. (Honors) and Bachelor of Arts.

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) is located at Ludhiana. It was set up in the year 2005. It was established with the objective of promoting livestock production, health and prevention of diseases, for enhancing the quality of life in rural areas of Punjab. The university focuses upon integrated teaching and extension programs.
