Universities of Kerala
Universities of Kerala are institutions providing opportunities for specialization in the fields of science, social science, humanities, etc. They are situated in different parts of Kerala. Some of these universities are University of Kerala, University of Calicut and Kannur University.

University of Kerala
University of Kerala is situated in Thiruvananthapuram. It was set up in the year 1937 and is the first university of Kerala. It is known for its research work in various subjects. There are 16 faculties, 41 departments of teaching and research, study centers and other departments in the university.

University of Calicut
University of Calicut is situated in Thenjipalam in Malappuram district. It was established in the year 1968. It is known to be a prestigious university in the field of sciences, humanities and arts. The university has developed into the largest residential cum affiliating university in Kerala.

Mahatma Gandhi University
Universities of Kerala, Indian UniversitiesMahatma Gandhi University is situated in Kottayam district. It was established on 2nd of October 1983, which coincides with Gandhi Jayanti. It is regarded as one of the famous universities of Kerala. It offers 300 academic programs in various subjects.

Kannur University
Kannur University is located at Mangattuparamba in Kannur district. It was set up in the year 1996. This multi-campus university was established with the aim to bring about development of higher education in Kasaragod, Kannur and Wayanad districts.

Cochin University of Science and Technology
Cochin University of Science and Technology is located in Cochin. It was established in the year 1971. This government-owned autonomous science and technology university provides numerous openings to the student of higher education. The university has been ranked fifth in India in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

Kerala Agricultural University
Kerala Agricultural University is located at Vellanikkara in Thrissur district. It was set up in 1971. The university has been instrumental in providing human resources and sophisticated technology for development of agriculture in the state.

Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit is located at Kalady near Kochi. The university was established in the year 1993, with a view to promote Sanskrit, Indology, Indian Philosophy and Indian Languages. Central University of Kerala
Central University of Kerala is situated in Kasaragod town. It was established by an act of Parliament in the year 2009. The university runs postgraduate programs and a Ph.D program.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies
Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies is headquartered in the premises of the College of Fisheries, Panangad, near Kochi. This university was established by the Government of Kerala. It is devoted to studies in fisheries and ocean sciences.

National University of Advanced Legal Studies
National University of Advanced Legal Studies is located at Kochi. It was established by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. This university provides under-graduate, graduate and post-graduate legal education.

Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is situated in Pookode, Wayanad. This university was established by the Government of Kerala in December, 2010 for further education, research and extension services in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. The university has seven constituent colleges.

Kerala University of Health Sciences
Kerala University of Health Sciences is a medical university, situated in the city of Thrissur. It was established in the year 2010, following the Kerala University Health Act, 2010. The university campus is located in Mulankunnathukavu. About 205 professional colleges are affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences.
