Universities of Jammu and Kashmir
Universities of Jammu and Kashmir have helped in developing manpower in the state. Some of these universities are University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Central University of Kashmir and Central University of Jammu.

Universities of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian UniversitiesUniversities of Jammu and Kashmir are centers of learning, which cater to the diverse educational requirements of students in India. These universities impart higher education in various fields of study. Jammu and Kashmir has three central universities and eight state universities. Some of the universities of Jammu and Kashmir are described below.

University of Jammu
University of Jammu is situated in Jammu, on the banks of Tawi River. It was established in 1969 by an Act of State Legislature. It has satellite campuses in Bhaderwah, Kathua and Poonch. The university has received an "A+ Grade" from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

University of Kashmir
University of Kashmir is situated in the western side of the Dal Lake in Srinagar. It was set up in the year 1956. It has been awarded "A Grade" by the NAAC. The university has 12 faculties, 47 academic departments, 21 centers, 36 colleges and six (privately managed) recognized institutes, throughout the state. The university campus is situated at Hazratbal. Its three adjacent campuses are Amar Singh Bagh, Naseem Bagh and Mirza Bagh.

Baba Ghulam Shah Badhshah University
Baba Ghulam Shah Badhshah University is situated in Rajouri. The university came into existence by the Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 2002. It focuses on postgraduate training and undertakes research in fields such as management, environment, biodiversity, bio-technology, computer sciences, information technology and applied mathematics.Universities of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Universities

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu is situated in Jammu. It was established on 20th of September, 1999, following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act, 1982. The university conducts courses like basic agriculture/ horticultural course, bachelors, masters and Ph.D. courses.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir is located in Srinagar. Its main campus is located in Shalimar, Srinagar. The university has multiple campuses, colleges, research centers and extension centers across Kashmir Valley and Ladakh.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a statutory university located near Katra. It is situated near the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. It was set up in the year 1999. The university is fully residential and provides technical education in the fields of engineering, science, management, philosophy and other subjects of contemporary importance.

Islamic University of Science and Technology
Islamic University of Science and Technology is a public university located at Awantipora. It was set up in the year 2005. It has been set up as a center for higher learning for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and its neighboring regions. It has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Other Universities of Jammu and Kashmir
Two other universities of Jammu and Kashmir are Central University of Kashmir and Central University of Jammu.

Army Education Corps came into existence on 1st June 1947. Army Educational Corps supervises and directs all the education in the army. It also provides instructors and the examining machinery for all army educational examinations.
