It is a cattle fair and is held in Tutilawa which is a town in Chatra district of Jharkhand. As per historical record, Tutilawa Mela started in the year 1935. It is an important fair for the people of Jharkhand as it is a significant source of income for them. It is organized with great pomp and show and people from all over the state as well as from the neighboring states come to be a part of the grand celebration.

Celebration of Tutilawa Mela
The fair is held on Falgun Poornima which is in the English month of mid February. Traders from varied distant places participate in the fair and sell cattle. They even adorn their cattle with decorative cloths and jewelleries to make them look attractive. Buying cattle is considered lucky by the people of Jharkhand. It is not only for the buying and selling of cattle which makes them a grand affair, but also the other enjoyments such as the races, swinging, acrobatics and wrestling bouts.

The added attractions are the delicious snacks and sweets sold by all the temporary stalls. The villagers clad in their best attires visit the fair with great joy. Folk song and dance are also an integral part of Tutilawa Mela. The nearest airport to this fair is Ranchi Airport.
