In Ayurveda it is advised to mix the bark of babula tree and rock salt in Luke warm water as the mixture needs to be utilised during gargling. Another effective treatment for tonsillitis in Ayurveda is the application of a pulverised mixture of three ingredients; namely, Kulanjana, Vacha, and Yashti madhu. The patient suffering from tonsillitis simply needs to lick the paste made from them blended with honey.

Agastya Rasayana is recommended for patients suffering from chronic tonsillitis. It is authentically known to prevent future attacks of tonsillitis. As per professional prescription, the dosage of this herb is one teaspoonful of Agastya rasayana combined with honey.

Khadiradi appears in a tablet form that needs to be sucked in through a gradual manner. A patient can take six such tablets on an everyday basis.

Treatment of Tonsillitis Ayurveda not only gives emphasis on treatment but also says about the proper diet during tonsillitis. A patient, suffering from Tonsillitis should hold fast and consume only liquid like fruit juice and liquidised raw vegetables. Ayurveda ensures the proper intake of vitamins, protein and minerals.

Homeopathy for Tonsillitis
Some homeopathic medicines are very useful to treat this disease. Bartya Carbonica is the most prominent one for acute tonsillitis. This medicine is very effective when the trouble is in the parenchyma of the glands and suppuration hardly follows its use. In the case of chronic sore throat Calcerea phosphorica stands well. Other medicines in homeopathy are Calcarea iodata, Bromine, Lycopodium, Ferrum phosphoricum. Belladona is taken as the chief medicine to cope up with tonsillitis. There are other medicines also. But all the medicines need to be taken after consulting a doctor.

Home Remedies for Tonsillitis
Several home methods are applied to recover tonsillitis. Using lime is very effective in the treatment of acute Tonsillitis. The mixture of fresh lime juice, honey, common salt with warm water is to be taken in sips. Another important procedure is to take pure boiled milk with a pinch of turmeric powder and pepper powder for three nights. Juice of carrot, beet and cucumber, taken individually or as a mixture is also beneficial. Banafsha flowers can be used in the treatment of Tonsillitis. About 12 gm of these flowers should be boiled in 50 ml of milk. This milk is to be taken hot after being filtered.

A cold pack should be applied to the throat every two hours during a day. A hot Epsom salts bath should be taken everyday to get relief .During tonsillitis spicy and fried food must not be there in the diet chart. The home remedies are the complementary treatment to facilitate the process of healing.

Surgery for Tonsillitis
In allopathy several antibiotics are consumed to treat sore throat. Surgical removal of tonsils is very common today. Tonsillectomy needs to be performed to treat Tonsillitis when a child has serious complications, recurrent infections, or chronic infections not responding to treatment. But the risks and benefits related to surgery need to be attained carefully.
